Chanel — Preppy Coco
I have to say this first: Chanel really surprised me.
After years of watching Chanel releases, it’s rare for a new bag to make me pause—but this one did. You’ve probably already seen it on Jennie. From the 26P Spring/Summer preview collection, it’s been nicknamed the “Preppy Coco,” and it’s already everywhere.
When it first launched, there was a bit of debate. Some felt that without the classic leather-and-chain strap, a Chanel bag loses part of its soul. And yet—none of that stopped it from becoming popular. In fact, after years of seeing the same quilted flap silhouettes, this simpler approach feels refreshing.
The design is clean and understated: two slim leather top handles, a structured flap, and the iconic double-C closure. It doesn’t ask you to dress up for it. It feels like a bag you can grab on the way out the door—effortless, relaxed, but still unmistakably chic.
There are two sizes. For everyday use, the 22cm version is the sweet spot. It holds its own even with coats or heavier outfits and somehow manages to feel both polished and relaxed at the same time.
The 17cm version is also extremely popular. Despite its smaller size, it’s not a “decorative” bag—you can fit a large phone and essentials easily. And importantly, it’s one of the more accessible Chanel prices.
There’s also a cylindrical version within the Preppy Coco family. With the same long leather handles but a taller silhouette, it leans slightly more playful while still staying elegant.
